We welcome you to our website. At Worcester Healthy Start Initiative, we strive to create a culturally friendly environment and events that will provide Worcester Families with essential Perinatal services during and after pregnancy. Explore our website and contact us for more information.

- G. Mike Portuphy, MPH, CHES, Program Director

The Worcester Healthy Start Initiative (WHSI) is the only federally funded city-wide program working at the grassroots level in Worcester with pregnant women, women with young children and their families to ensure that they all have equal access to health care and social support resources. We are here to connect you with everything from medical care, insurance, baby supplies, health information, and emotional support - no matter how far along you are.

Over the past 15 years Worcester has had higher Infant Mortality Rate than that of Massachusetts and the nation. Funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of HRSA in 2000, our goal is to reduce infant mortality in Worcester and improve the birth outcomes for the high risk populations.

Your baby's good health starts long before birth

If you are a pregnant woman or a family with children under the age of two, living in Worcester, please contact us to enroll in the program.
